What is a Radiesse Injection Used For?

Radiesse is an injectable filler used to counteract signs of aging. Like most similar treatments, its main purpose is to smooth and rejuvenate skin which was decreased in volume or gained wrinkles with age. Many turn to Radiesse to smooth smile lines and nasolabial folds, wrinkles at the corner of the mouth, and vertical lip lines; others may use it to restore volume in and around the cheeks. Though it’s typically used for the face, some patients also use Radiesse on the backs of their hands, or other areas which naturally lose volume over time.

Administering a Radiesse Filler

The good news is that signs of aging can be smoothed out with a collagen-boosting injectable. The better news is that receiving a Radiesse filler is a quick procedure, normally completed within 30 to 45 minutes (depending on the size of the area being treated). Before your Radiesse injection, your face will be thoroughly cleansed. Then your practitioner will mark with ink the injection areas, to ensure they can deliver Radiesse precisely to target the desired areas. Next, a topical numbing cream will be applied and the gel is delivered using a fine needle into pockets just underneath the skin. When the right volume is achieved, your treatment has finished, and you can head home to relax.

What to Expect With a Radiesse Filler Procedure

Following your Radiesse injection, recovery is quick. Though there may be redness, swelling, and even bruising around the injection sites, these go away after several hours. After leaving our facility, patients will be able to resume their normal routine, although strenuous exercise should be limited for the first 24 hours.

Radiesse therapy patients will see their results immediately. Best of all, over time, your results actually will continue to improve. This is because — in addition to smoothing wrinkles and adding volume immediately — Radiesse stimulates natural collagen growth over time, which is an agent for healthy skin!

Houston Radiesse: What is the Local Price?

As is the case with most injectable treatments, Radiesse is priced per syringe. However, the price of this procedure will still vary; the amount of syringes used in a treatment will depend on your desired result. On average, a single syringe of this product will cost around $700. It’s best to discuss with an experienced practitioner like Dr. Lapuerta to gauge your needs and come up with a plan to get the results you desire.

Radiesse FAQs

What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a form of dermal filler which is most often used to smooth out wrinkles and rejuvenate skin which has experienced volume loss over time. It is administered by injection in one quick procedure; the entire treatment generally is finished in under an hour. Some are as fast as fifteen minutes! This procedure is non-surgical and requires no real down-time, though it is suggested that you avoid super intense physical activity or too much sunshine in the days following your treatment.
What’s the Difference Between a Radiesse Injection and Other Fillers?
There is an extensive selection of dermal fillers available. Each filler has its own specific treatment to match the patient’s cosmetic issues. A major highlight of a Radiesse treatment is that, aside from its volumizing capability, it can function as a collagen stimulator. This is quite effective: when collagen multiplies, it greatly benefits the skin tone. Like Juvederm®, Restylane®, and other dermal fillers, Radiesse is manufactured using hyaluronic acid (HA). While all HA-based fillers are great in adding volume back to facial depressions, Radiesse stands out as the only one made of calcium-based microspheres. They have the ability to integrate with skin tissues and promote collagen growth. If you are having trouble choosing a filler, we’ve got you covered. During your initial consultation, your face will be assessed and the appropriate filler will be recommended. Whichever you choose will be safe and effective — whether naturally or artificially derived, the dermal fillers we use are always FDA approved.
How Long Does Radiesse Last?
This dermal filler treatment provides an effective fix for approximately one year. Patients who wish to maintain their results will need to come back for additional treatments about a year after their initial procedure. Some patients may even see results for up to two years before needing a booster.
Is a Radiesse Filler Right For Me?
Every patient is unique and a treatment plan will be tailored to their needs and desired results — which may include Radiesse, or another filler if the practitioner feels it will best benefit the patient. In particular, those who scar easily or are taking certain blood-thinning medications should chat with Dr. Lapuerta before deciding on Radiesse
Is Radiesse Safe?
Radiesse is FDA approved and backed by comprehensive testing. As it is derived from a substance that naturally occurs in the body, it poses no toxic risk. Temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, bruising, numbness, or itching, all of which should subside in a few days.
