Types of Facial Fillers
Once a patient has elected to try a facial filler, they will need to decide which type best suits their desired results. We offer two main types of facial fillers to our patients:
Among facial contouring fillers, RADIESSE® is well-regarded. This treatment has been FDA-approved for 15 years and is used to reverse signs of aging. The RADIESSE treatment involves injecting calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres into the skin to stimulate collagen production and smooth facial wrinkles — notably smile lines and nasolabial folds, as well as vertical lip lines. Many of our patients also choose RADIESSE to combat loss of volume in the cheeks.
Juvéderm® is a popular line of dermal fillers that smooth wrinkles and provide contouring for a more youthful facial appearance. Juvéderm injections are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance produced by the human body. When used as an injection, hyaluronic acid can restore volume and smoothness to the face. Currently, the Juvéderm® product line includes Juvederm XC, Vollure XC, Voluma XC, Volbella XC and Juvederm Ultra XC.
Facial Filler Injection Procedure
A facial filler injection is a straightforward and simple procedure. Most of our patients find that they can slot it into their daily life without any fuss. We even see people on their lunch break! Here’s what you can expect during and after your treatment.
What to Expect During a Facial Filler Procedure
Before the actual treatment, facial filler patients will be expected to meet their physician for a consultation. This initial meeting is an important step that allows the patient to get to know Dr. Lapuerta and share their goals and relevant medical history, so that he can map out the best course of action for the procedure and recovery period.
During the actual procedure, the patient’s injection site will be prepped and cleaned, and Dr. Lapuerta will apply a numbing cream before injecting the filler(s.) The entire process will only take about fifteen minutes.
What to Expect After a Facial Filler Procedure
Following a facial filler procedure, patients can get back to their everyday life relatively quickly, though we suggest putting any strenuous activities on hold for 24-48 hours afterwards; this will help minimize excessive bruises or swelling. Additionally, patients may notice the following effects following their procedure: some numbness, blotchiness, lumps, an overly full appearance, or, occasionally, hives. Generally, icing and massage can bring these side effects down within a couple of days. In some cases, Dr. Lapuerta might suggest a medication or injection to move the healing process along. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns about your aftercare.
Cost of Facial Fillers in Houston
The cost of facial fillers will depend on the treatment type as well as the amount of injections they will be receiving. Some facial filler treatments can be as low as $400, while more involved treatments with multiple injections can total $6,000 — the final cost will vary by the patient, their goals, and the treatment course determined between them and Dr. Lapuerta to get there.
To get the best idea of what their facial filler procedure will cost, we recommend that patients schedule a consultation with our team.
