In general, you will encounter the following:
The Initial Consultation
The goal of the consultation is to address the areas of your concern and educate you on all aspects of the particular procedure. You will meet with the patient coordinator, view “before and after” photos, and watch an informative video that provides you with a visual as to what occurs during surgery. You will then meet with Dr. Lapuerta who will go over your medical history and perform a physical examination. Once a procedure has been agreed upon you will be given a quote along with financing options. If the consultation results in a mutual decision to proceed, then available surgery dates will be discussed.
Plan to spend about an hour to an hour and a half meeting with your patient coordinator and Dr. Lapuerta.
Pre-operative Appointment
The purpose of the pre-op appointment is to go more into detail as to what to expect before and after surgery. You will meet with the nurse and go over all of the post-op instructions and prescriptions. Pictures will be taken along with measurements to ensure that the proper garment is provided for you after surgery. Finally, but most importantly, any further questions will be answered by Dr. Lapuerta.
Plan to spend about an hour meeting with your patient coordinator, your nurse and Dr. Lapuerta.
Surgery Day
The day before surgery you’ll receive a call from our team with all the last minute details you’ll need to know as well as time for you to ask any questions. The day of surgery is designed to minimize your anxiety and ensure a safe and successful transformation. For more details, see Preparing for Your Big Day. The day after surgery you will receive a call from our team and you will always have 24/7 access to Dr. Lapuerta’s cell phone or a team member by phone.
Post-operative Appointments:
We will see you the first, second, and third week following surgery. At these appointments, dressings will be changed, incisions will be examined, and needs and concerns will be addressed. Depending on the progress of your healing, we will see you one month after this. We then like to take your “after” photos at 3 months from the date of your surgery.
Plan to spend about 15-30 minutes at most of your post-operative appointments.
