Plastic surgeon assessing a patient for facelift surgery

What a Facelift Costs in Houston, and What Actually Drives the Price

Most Houston practices will not publish a facelift price, and the reason is not evasion. A facelift is not one operation. A mini lift on a 48-year-old with early jowling and a combined face and neck lift on a 64-year-old are different procedures with different operating times, and quoting one number for both would mislead you.

What follows is what moves the number, so you can read a quote and understand what you are being charged for.

The five components of a facelift quote

1. The surgeon's fee

This tracks the complexity and duration of the operation. A mini facelift addressing early laxity along the jawline takes less time than a deep plane facelift with a neck lift. Revision work, where scar tissue from a prior operation has to be navigated, takes longer still.

Surgeon experience also factors in. That is not a markup for reputation. A surgeon who has performed thousands of facelifts operates more efficiently and manages complications that a lower-volume surgeon may not recognize early.

2. Anesthesia

Ask who administers your anesthesia. Practices staff this differently, and the difference shows up in the price.

Dr. Lapuerta uses physician anesthesiologists on every case, never nurse anesthetists or anesthesia assistants. A board-certified physician manages your airway and hemodynamics for the full four to six hours. That costs more than the alternative. It is the line item Dr. Lapuerta declines to negotiate.

3. The facility

Where the operation happens changes the fee. An accredited surgical facility carries costs that an unaccredited office procedure room does not: equipment standards, emergency protocols, staffing ratios, and periodic inspection.

Dr. Lapuerta owns and operates a QuadA accredited surgical facility. He also holds privileges across the Memorial Hermann hospital network, HCA facilities including The Woman's Hospital of Texas, and St. Luke's Houston Medical Center, which matters if a patient's medical history makes a hospital setting the safer choice.

4. Combined procedures

Most facelift patients need something addressed alongside the lift. A neck lift is the most common addition, because facial aging rarely stops at the jawline. Upper or lower eyelid surgery, fat transfer, and skin resurfacing come up often.

Combining procedures raises the total but lowers the per-procedure cost, since you pay anesthesia and facility fees once instead of twice. It also consolidates recovery into a single period.

5. Everything after surgery

Post-operative visits, garments, and follow-up imaging belong in the quote. Ask whether they are included or billed separately. Ask what a revision would cost if one became necessary, and under what circumstances the practice absorbs it.

Why the cheapest quote in Houston is usually the most expensive

Price shopping a facelift produces a predictable pattern. The low quote comes from a shorter operation, a less accredited facility, a non-physician anesthesia provider, or a surgeon who performs facelifts occasionally rather than routinely.

Revision facelift surgery costs more than the original operation. It takes longer, the tissue planes are scarred, and the achievable result is narrower. Patients who chose on price and returned for revision paid twice and got less.

Financing

Cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. Our practice works with patient financing companies that offer monthly payment plans, and our patient coordinators will walk through the options during your consultation. Ask about them before you assume a procedure is out of reach.

What to bring to a consultation

You will get a more useful quote if you arrive with:

Dr. Lapuerta will tell you if a facelift is the wrong operation for what you want fixed. Some patients arrive asking about a facelift and leave with a plan for fat transfer and skin resurfacing, because volume loss and sun damage were the actual problem.

Schedule a consultation

A consultation gives you a specific number for your anatomy and your goals, not a range from a website. Call (713) 489-0169 or request a consultation online. Consultations are available in English and Spanish.
